At Akaokan, guests can relax in the spacious public hot-spring baths and visit the Historic Villages of Shirakawa-gō and Gokayama, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, located a 20-minute drive away. Village housings feature Ainokura Gassho-style architecture. Japanese Yukata robes are provided for all guests. JR Johana Train Station is a 30-minute drive away. Guests can choose to stay in Japanese-style rooms with Japanese futon bedding, or in rooms with a tatami area, which feature tatami (woven-straw) flooring and Western beds.
